Forever Loved!
ADOPTED!!! October 2021 BUCKY

Name: Bucky
Age: 6 months
Sex: Male
Housing: Single
Children: Teens
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No
*Please, read through the full bio, Bucky is looking for a special home! *
Meet the energetic Bucky! He is a 6 month old red merle, male Aussie. Bucky is up to date on his vaccines and will be neutered either prior to adoption and/or as part of the adoption contract. As you can expect from a puppy, Bucky is a busy boy with LOTS of energy! He still needs work on his manners and socialization so we are on the search for a home that will take the time to train him along with enrolling him in basic training classes. Bucky has separation anxiety so it is important that he is in a stable environment where his people are not constantly coming and going. He needs his people to be fully on-board with continuing to work with his separation anxiety and understand that this is a critical piece to finding Buck the perfect home.
Everything is new to Bucky on walks. His foster home is managing his interactions with the world with lots of treats and teaching him that new things are good. He is making such great strides and will need a home to continue working on this.
He is nervous meeting new dogs on leash but has done well with slow introductions and loves running and chasing his foster brother off leash (in a fenced yard). Bucky knows how to ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘paw’ and is working on ‘drop it’.. sometimes an exchange of goods is required as he is a good businessman .
Bucky loves ALL kinds of toys. He enjoys playing fetch and tug with his foster parents but will also happily grab a chew toy and keep himself busy on his bed for a bit. He can be a bit mouthy when playing so it is important that his owners are respectful of his space and do not grab toys from his mouth. This has improved as he learns to trust his foster parents.
Bucky is a total velcro dog and loves cuddling on the couch and will follow you into the bathroom if you don't close the door quick enough. He will wake you up at 5:30am in the morning by lying directly on top of you. He enjoys going into his crate to eat or chillout but does not like being locked in it out of your sight.
Bucky is respectful when his foster parents are eating at the dining table but he does want a piece of the action if snacks are being eaten on the couch. He is learning to go lay on his bed and anxiously awaits a snack of his own. Bucky is quiet in the house but will occasionally let out a bark for attention or if his lunch is served late. He is very calm in the car and loves to take a snooze until he reaches his destination.
If you have lots of love and lots of patience for this sweet boy please fill out an adoption application found at www.aroo.ca

Archie ~ Adopted! June 2020

Name: Archie
Age: ~2 Years
Sex: Male, neutered
Children: Adults only
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Please, read through the full bio, Archie is looking for a special home!
Meet Archie! This dynamo tiny mini/toy-sized Aussie has such a great spark and energy!
Archie had an unfortunate beginning to his short life being allowed to bark and lung at the front window if people, cars or squirrels went by. Creating an anxious and stressed out pup. He learned to react to strangers on the street and lunge at cars, bikes, and buses. This little guy was not exposed to many experiences as a young dog so he is wary of all that is new. His foster home is managing his interactions with the world and teaching him that new things are good. He is making such great strides but he is looking for a special home that will continue to work with this as well as manage his naughtiness.
Archie has learned that sitting at the side of the road brings the treats out, which has taught him to now ignore the scary things going by. He gives a low rumble or short bark to alert his foster mom someone is going by the house and gets rewarded with a treat for coming away. He has learned to ignore people that ignore him and is learning to ignore people that reach for him.
He was also a little nervous meeting new dogs at first, but has come so far. He now loves to run and chase his dog buddies.
Archie loves to engage in a good game of tug with his foster mom and will also play with toys in the house to keep himself amused. He’s a great cuddler (really what more do you need J ) on the couch and will wake you up in the morning by lying on your chest like a cat!
Archie has completed level 1 scent detection and is now working in beginner 2 scent class and loves the job (along with the treats!).
Archie walks well on a leash with his harness and travels well in the car. He is crate trained but complains when you first leave. When you come home he is quiet and will greet you with a toy in his mouth and sit to be let out. Archie is house trained and low maintenance in the house.
Archie requires a special home with adults only and a family or person willing to manage his interactions. A country or low-density neighborhood would be the best for Archie. Like a lot of herding dogs, he is protective of his home and yard. He must be put away when people come to the home and taken out on leash until he gets to know them slowly. He should not be introduced to new dogs in his yard but on neutral territory like a park. He requires a fenced yard where he can safely play and relax with these people. Archie requires a person or couple who are willing to work with him and to take things slowly. People who don’t have a lot of parties or people coming and going all the time.
If you think you are the right home for Archie please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out an application.

Eva ~ Adopted! November 2019

Dogs: Yes
Cats: Not tested but suspect she may chase them
Children: +12 only
Housing: Single
Meet the beautiful Eva. She is a 4- year-old Black-Tri female Aussies. Eva is up to date on her vaccines and is microchipped. Eva came to us a little bit of a chunky monkey but quickly losing the weight now with exercise and an appropriate diet. Her new home will need to continue with her weight loss efforts but it won’t be hard!
Eva is great with other dogs she has been exposed to medium-sized and small dogs in foster care, she occasionally does try to initiate play but not often, sometimes interested in what other dogs are doing but doesn’t interact much in general with the other dogs. She is a VERY sweet girl with big bright eyes. She is a very low key and low energy dog; happy with an after-work walk then settles in for the evening beside the couch. Loves to chase balls, but doesn’t show much other interest in toys. She has a loud bark and uses it when she is excited (when let out of her area to go to the yard when family arrives home, or at mealtime when she feels her food isn’t being delivered quickly enough!) and to ask for/demand things (mostly attention and petting, sometimes when her humans are eating). Eva likes walks, does pull a little on the leash at the beginning of walks but settles down very quickly.
Eva is housebroken and can be left alone for a normal workday. She is not crate trained and would prefer not to be in a crate, but can be left in a confined space when she is alone and is non-destructive. Once settled into her routine she does not bark when the family leaves for the day, but this is a bit of a transition period. She meets strangers easily when they are settled in the home; we recommend that slow introductions are done to allow her the time to warm up to new people without pushing her too hard. Eva has tried to put her feet up on the counter for food and occasionally paws/whines to beg for her human’s dinner, but she will back up when asked. She has never “stolen” unattended food but she may if given the chance.
Eva has some thunderstorm anxiety where she occasionally will whine and bark. She also is worried also about being brushed, but with patience, she is allowing more and more. Eva is looking for someone with patience and time to help her settle in, and allow her to have some of her quirks ;) Eva does not like the vet clinic and requires a muzzle as a precaution only for treatments such as ear cleaning, etc.
Eva came to us at AROO with untreated allergies and incontinent issues. Her allergies are now under control and she is no longer suffering from the effects, but at this time we are unsure if it is seasonal or all year allergies. She will continue to need monitoring and allergy treatment from the veterinarians as needed. After many tests and consults, we are not able to pinpoint the exact cause of her incontinence but have been able to treat it and resolve the issue with estrogen treatment. Currently, she receives one pill every 7-8 days and this may over time be stretched out to longer with careful care and monitoring. She will require this medication for the rest of her life and is an approximate cost of $18/month.
If you have lots of love and lots of patience for this kind and sweet girl please fill out an adoption application found at www.aroo.ca

Fynn - Adopted! July 2019
Meet Fynn! This 4-year-old Male Border Collie is searching for his forever family!
Fynn is a lovely dog with the very typical BC personality. He LOVES his ball and will play FOREVER if given the choice. He is wary of strangers at first meeting but warms up quickly. In general pretty aloof to the people that take care of him. He has had a stressful few weeks with the shelter, a new foster home, trips to the vets for neuter and vaccinations but once allowed to settle the anxiety is wearing off and he has become really comfortable in his foster home. He is crate trained, he barks for a minute or two but quiets down. He is fine for a typical workday on his own. He is 100% house trained. He was recently neutered, but before was VERY interested in all female dogs (regardless if spayed). He interacts fine with other dogs, but is a little wary and aloof about the situation. He is best suited to a home without another dog so he can get the 1 on 1 he needs right now. He is fine alone in a fenced in backyard, happily sniffing and searching for balls. He likes to chill on the deck in the sun. He does pulls on leash. Fynn can nip at sleeves when super aroused/excited/stressed but we are not seeing any of that now he is settled in his foster home. For this reason we are recommending an herding dog experienced home. He has been to the vet multiple times and is fine with meeting vet and staff but needs to be muzzled for nail clipping, grooming and examination. Fynn is a lovely boy, looking for a home that wants a fun and active partner to fill up their days. Fynn will be fully vaccinated by the time he heads to his forever home, he is micro chipped and neutered. If this sounds like the right dog for you please fill out an adoption application. |
Walt - ADOPTED! June 2019

Meet Walt! Walt is a 5-Month-old Black-Tri Australian Shepherd and he is amazing. He is everything you would expect a busy, baby boy Aussie to be. He is adventurous and playful. Walt loves his people, "where’s Walt?", just at your feet of course! He loves to follow his foster Mom around the yard and “helps” with the yard work.
As you would expect at this age, Walt needs continued work on leash skills, meeting new dogs, and general socializing. There is no major concern here but as he moves through his fear stages he is showing some worry over cars passing on the road and unexpected dogs (although he does not react and plays nicely with resident dogs). He recovers well and is becoming more use to different environments but as always, puppies are a big commitment and lot’s more work to be done. Walt is looking for someone committed to his training helping him grow up to a well-adjusted and socialized adolescent.
Walt is crate trained and is looking for a home that will continue this skill, making sure he is safe and out of trouble when his people are not supervising. Walt is fully house trained and has not had a single accident in foster care, but he is let out frequently. He has been left alone for a 4 hour day time period and is crated overnight without accidents. Adopters would need a plan for ensuring he is not alone for too long at the beginning. He sleeps through the night without a problem.
Walt loves to play with toys and will play by himself independently quietly and staying out of trouble with supervision. He also loves to play with the resident young dog or with foster mom.
Walt will not be able to go to a home with young children; his reason for needed rescue is being over aroused in a busy environment with small kids. We do not want to set Walt up for failure by placing him back into a similar environment. He has, however, shown no signs of any major issues such as aggression or resource guarding in current home. He is a wonderful puppy that just needs rules, routines and a strong foundation of positive training.
Walt still needs one more booster vaccination and his neuter and healing time before going to his forever home, but we see no reason he can’t begin the hunt for the perfect match. We will be accepting applications for Walt from today until the end of day Monday, April 1, 2019. We will then evaluate the applications and begin the screening process. ONLY applications received during this time frame will be considered. If previously filled out an application and the information is current then you will need to email us directly at aroo.info@gmail.com to indicate your interest in Walt.

Harper - Adopted May 2019

AROO’s Harper came into rescue with a fractured femur. Unfortunately, the casting was not an option for this type of fracture and surgery was the only option for her. She went right into surgery, her bone was realigned and then a pin was placed through the femur to hold everything together as the fracture sets and heals. We have word that the surgery has gone well and although a bit of a rocky wake up she is medicated and sleeping for now.
The surgery although a major part of the efforts is just the first step for Harper. She still has a long road of recovery ahead of her. She has many days of antibiotics and pain medication, lots of rest (which everyone loves with a young Aussie-not). There are some follow-up appointments and x-rays over the next couple months and then rehab.
Thank You all for your wonderful healing thoughts for Harper. Please, keep them coming.
PLEASE consider donating to AROO either by putting money on her medical bill directly VCA Canada Bells Corners Animal Hospital or by making a donation at www.AROO.ca
WE WILL NOT BE ANSWERING INQUIRIES UNTIL WE KNOW MORE ABOUT HER AND SHE IS LISTED FOR ADOPTION.

Aero - Adopted January 2019

Name: Aero
Age: 1 Year
Sex: Female
Children: Over 12
Dogs: Yes, Please
Cats: Unknown
Meet the Beautiful Aero, she is one Year old, up-to-date on her vaccinations and spayed. She has the most beautiful markings and is an Aussie-Border Collie Cross. As one can expect from a young herding breeding dog, Aero is a busy girl with lots of energy. She still needs work on her manners and socialization so we are on the search for a home that wants to take the time to train this girlie along with taking her to some foundation training classes and working with to learn more about the world.
Aero Loves to RUN and with her foster mom has been responding well to her person changing direction rather than calling her name. More work on recall is needed but she will learn quickly with her new home we suspect. Aero knows how to sit on command and is actively working on “down” and “out” with progress. She adores playing with toys, be it de-squeaking them, playing tug or playing fetch with balls. She can be a bit mouthy when playing. Aero is very smart! But with such amazing intelligence, these dogs often chain naughty behavior (like counter surfing) quickly, so it will be important that her people are consistent and have solid ground rules for her.
Aero is crate trained, she goes on her own into her crate to have her meals. She is house trained but she will need at the very least someone to come home mid-day work day to let her out for a bathroom break. She settles nicely in the house when you are relaxing or busy. She sleeps loose in the bedroom overnight with no issues. She pulls a bit on a leash but again consistent training should cull this pretty quickly.
Aero is a bit skittish meeting new people, she has been learning that people are good by pairing treats with the sight of new people and this has been effective. She enjoys playing with other dogs and would like a home with another playful dog, although respectful of pushy dogs as well. Aero lets her foster mom brush her, even to remove burrs, she allows nail clipping with treats and has tested taking higher value food out of her mouth with no issues.
If you have the time and are looking for an active fun girlie to join you on your adventures this is the dog for you. She is a sweet and lovely pup she just needs someone to work with her to help her develop into her best self. If you are interested in Aero please fill out an application at www.AROO.ca

Murray - Adopted December 2018
Meet the very handsome Murray. This gentle and sweet boy is 6 years old; he is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. Murray came to AROO as he tore his ACL and needed surgery to repair the damage. He has had the surgery and is ending the recovery period and will be looking for his forever home.
Murray walks very nicely on a leash, he truly enjoying his sniffing time on his daily walks. Due to his injury, he has spent a great deal of time crated and manages very well for a normal workday. He travels well in the car and likes to go on visits. He is very people friendly and greets most people strangers or those he knows with a wiggly bum (You know the type ;) ).
Murray does have some prey drive and will chase squirrels; this combined with his weight issues is likely the driving cause of his injury. Murray is now on a weight loss food and beginning to show is a very nice svelt body under the weight. He is looking for a medium level activity home, he can handle the city nicely and is quiet but also could adapt to a country setting.
He has had some good interactions with dogs and we suspect he will be good with most dogs, but he has shown some low level (growling) to his pushy foster sister over a bone. We will strive to find a home for him without a strong personality female dog.
Murray is such a sweet nice dog he will make anyone happy with his good looks and amazing personality. If you are willing to help Murray on his rehab and weight loss journey and think he is a good fit for your home please fill out an adoption application at www.aroo.ca

Thor-Adopted December 2017
Meet Apollo, a 7-year-old Male Australian Shepherd. Apollo is up to date on his vaccinations and is in general good health. He is a little overweight therefore currently on weight management food and regular exercise plan.
This Blue Merle boy is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. He is sweet and quiet and provides a comfortable presence. All that being said he is still an Aussie and needs an experienced home to manage his herding tendencies and strong willed mind. Pollo settles nicely in the house and although with coaxing can be crated he prefers and has been non-destructive and quiet being left for a work day in a confined space and loose in the house overnight for bedtime. He enjoys car rides and will watch out the window or during extended trips falls asleep for the drive.
Pollo needs to be in a home without or children 12+ as he has been known to herd and move children to his satisfaction, it is best to go to a home without cats as he seems like any small creatures showing interest that could result in chasing/nipping. He has also shown interest in fast moving cars on street walks or in the yard but does not react to slower moving cars that are found on typical suburb street walks. He gets along with the dogs that we have tested him with. He has met a variety of dogs of different ages and sex and seems fine with everyone but may a little pushy for an older insecure dog (no issues on meeting just very interested in them).
He loves his squeaky toys and chasing a ball (although his “fetching” skills are lacking ;) ). He is content and happy to be outside for long periods of time, he likes to help out when doing yard work or chores and sunbathes when sitting quietly in the yard. He is happy to be a dog that is loved and adore with a little attention and not anything too much or overly affectionate as he can be a little aloof. It is important that there are rules and boundaries for him that are clear and positively reinforced as he can and will be pushy. In typical Aussie fashion, he learns very quickly and will listen and do almost anything you ask as long as you are clear.
This is a very good dog that through no fault of his own turned into a shelter now needs a forever home that will understand and love him.
Apollo is being fostered in the Ottawa area.

AROO is very pleased to introduce you to Thor. This very hansom Black-tri dog came into rescue due to his previous owners illness. He was well loved and socialized. Thor can be described as medium energy dog, he is easy going and fun loving. He is great with all the dogs that he has come into contact with as of now, both male and female. His foster family describes him as being affectionate and loving with all members of the family. He is currently being fostered with two human pups ;) ages 6 and 9 and does very well with them.
Thor walks nicely on leash and has a good command of basic manners and recall. He is a typical Aussie that is eager to learn and please his owners. Although Thor has many positive attributes he is still an Aussie and needs exercise and stimulation to be a happy healthy dog. Thor is also working on manners around food with other dogs, this will need continued to monitoring and work.
Thor is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. If you are interested in learning more about Thor the first step is to fill out an application at www.aroo.ca.

Meet AROO’s Loki. The pointy-eared sweet-heart came to us from a local shelter because he needed a stable and reliable home. We suspect he is a smooth collie mix(?). Loki has quickly adjusted to his foster home and has become a playful and fun pup! Loki is estimated to be 3 years old. He is great with other dogs but we are recommending a home without children. Loki loves to play with all his doggie friends, most often to be found on the top of the rumpled pile. He is vocal when playing and like many herding dogs he cuts off and chases his friend.
Loki absolutely ADORES his walks; it is so fun to watch his excitement when he knows that he is heading out for his turn for a stroll. He walks well on a leash and is great about seeing other dogs or people on the street. He loves to slowly de-stuff toys, he will play with a ball but not super interested in toys at this time.
Loki will snuggle up with you on the couch or bed; he loves the creature comforts of a warm cushy home. Loki is crate trained but requires a tasty Kong treat to be coaxed into his crate. He could be left loose in the house and is non-destructive after a little adjustment time in his new home. He can be vocal when stressed or in a new situation and left alone, this fades quickly as he becomes comfortable in the home.
Loki has an eye condition called Pannus and requires eye drops multiple times throughout the day. When he regularly has his drops this condition is easily managed without any other follow-up. Cost of the drops is approximately $40 a month.
If interested in Loki please fill out an application at www.aroo.ca and contact us at aroo.info@gmail.com.

Shimmer-Adopted December 2017

Age: 1 Years
Colour: Blue Merle
Breed: Aussie
Size: Small-Medium
Gender: Female
Dogs: No
Kids: No
Cats: Unknown

Meet Little Shimmer, this beautiful one-year-old, Blue Merle, Female, is looking for an experienced home. She had very little training prior to coming into rescue, so often acts like a pup in an adult body. She is a sweet girl that is full of energy but can quiet down nicely in the house when she has had enough exercise.
She still continues to work on self-control however she is very smart and learning fast. She can be demanding and expects to get her way, so one must be patient and teach her the correct way. Examples of this would be charging through doorways. Her foster home has worked hard on this and has been able to curb this so that it now rarely happens. Or being mouthy when you try to move her out of a place or space, again much improved but will need consistent work. She does resource guards her person (or treats?) against other dogs on and off leash when in a state of arousal.
Shimmer loves to play with toys inside and out. Her favorite game is tug but will also play ball/fetch. She is a lot of fun but sometimes not aware of her teeth contacting hands when playing tug and ball. Shimmer likes to play with other dogs but requires very slow introductions as she gets very over aroused quickly.
She is quiet in her room when away for the day and non-destructive. She did not come to us crate trained but we are working on it with her, she has a hard time going into her crate without reacting so we are taking it slowly. She is clean in the house but still young and would do best with a mid-day break.
Shimmer did not have much experience walking but is getting better on a leash for walks in the suburbs; she does not react to cars but lunges for bikes. She ignores people while she is on a leash. She is excited about squirrels (up on back legs). She does get over excited / aroused on a leash when she sees a dog on the street.
Shimmer has a class 2 malocclusion, meaning her two bottom K9’s are fitting the top pallet of her mouth. We are attempting ball therapy with her, a technique that has the dog hold a squish a ball as often as possible to stretch her mouth and hopefully avoid needing surgery. Adopters should be aware that there is the possibility of needing some dentistry work in the future if this does not work.
Shimmer is a velcro dog will follow you and lean against you, be under the desk, she loves to be petted and has tummy rubs. Shimmer is fully up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. Shimmer is looking for a home that is willing to keep working with her while she continues to learn and grow but we are confident the right home is out there for her. If interested in Shimmer please fill out an application at www.aroo.ca and contact us at aroo.info@gmail.com .

Lexi-Adopted November 2017
Meet Lexi, she is estimated to be around 5-6 years old female, Aussie X Sheltie. Lexi is a very happy-go-lucky girl who really enjoys being with you no matter what you are doing. She gladly follows you around the house or will cuddle with you on the couch, loving any close contact. She is a real cuddle bug and loves to sleep on the bed at night as well as cuddle with you on the couch.
She is both crate trained and house trained and is quiet in the house. She doesn’t express any separation anxiety, especially as she is busy with her kong when her foster mom leaves. She alternates between her crate and being loose in the house and is not destructive either way. Lexi is very food motivated and eats very quickly, but is learning to slow down as her food is put into puzzle bowls, making her work to get to her kibble. When she came to us, she was overweight and showed some symptoms of a food allergy, but now she is on a strict diet and has lost about 15 lbs and her skin is clearing up. Lexi does not guard her food with people or dogs, but will stiffen up a bit with things of higher value. However, she is glad to trade these for other treats. She knows some commands, (sit, wait, paw, down) but needs to learn a little more patience when sitting for her dinner. Lexi is not afraid of strangers and is very friendly with all of the visitors that come to the home or those that she meets out on her evening walks. She walks well on a leash, but can pull on the lead in her excitement to get close and lick the other dog’s mouth. She is very affectionate and happy with all people and dogs she meets on her walks, and enjoys playing with them. She gets along well with the resident dog. She isn’t a ball or Frisbee dog, but she LOVES sticks and will stop in her walk to have a little chew on the sticks she comes across. She also loves to play with the hose when her foster mom is watering the plants – she will put her whole face in the stream of water and play when she gets splashed. Lexi is somewhat responsive off leash (she sticks close and won’t run away) but is also very happy to go with whatever gang she is with at the moment, soaking up all the love and fun. She has been very gentle with all the small children she meets, and rolls over often to have her belly rubbed. She allows all the parts of her body to be touched, including brushing her teeth and clipping her nails. Lexi seems quite comfortable with cats. She is gentle and picks up on their cues. A dog savvy cat will likely do well with her. She is a little nervous in the car, and although well-behaved, will pant and pace and whine a little while driving. She is good with vacuums and doorbells and only barks occasionally when someone comes to the door (mainly because Bradley is an alert barker). Lexi has recently had an eye surgery and is responding well and will need little or no attention in the future. She is fully vaccinated and spayed. If you are interested in adopting Lexi and you have filled out an adoption application then please contact us at aroo.info@gmail.com |
Brodie-Adopted! October 2017
This very affectionate boy loves attention from people and balls. They are both about equal on his scale of L-O-V-E. He is great with strangers. Always polite, he will sit nicely in front of or beside you and gently rest his head to pet.
Brodie settles very nicely in the house, is calm and quiet. He does well on walks and after the initial excitement of going settles in to a nice steady pace without pulling too much. He ignores most people and vehicles on walks. Sometimes shows interest in passing dogs but doesn’t do much about it.
Brodie is great with all other dogs he has met and has had no issues. He would be okay with a dog savvy cat. He shows interest in them by stocking and gently herds them but again doesn’t do much else about it.
We do recommend an experienced dog home with no children. Brodie has some reservations with touching his collar, butt or other sensitive areas. We can only guess that he was possibly treated with a heavy hand in the past? He is great with those he trusts and ignores all else. He does need to be muzzled for vet exams but otherwise he has been fine it most situations he has seen in care.
We all have a great affection for this guy. He has very quickly made each of those who have met him fall in love. We are hoping to find him a great home that is looking for a nice calm companion that is up for anything.
Brodie is neutered, micro chipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Tuba (Tubs)-Adopted! August 2017
This boy came into rescue weighing over 125lbs!! He is currently less than 100lbs but has more to go. Tuba (sometime lovingly called Tubs) is a wonderful dog that should be between the weight of 50-60lbs. He is on the right track and is looking for a home that will keep him moving.
Tuba settles very nicely in the house, he occasionally has low level whining but it subsides quickly. He can be a bit barky when he is excited so a detached house is recommended. He is a gentle boy that likes attention and affection. He is fine loose in the house as long as he does not have access to food (counter surfer). He loves to hang and watch TV with you or head out on walks. He walks well on leash, he sometimes barks at dogs but not often and it is easy to redirect his attention elsewhere. Tuba is good with other dogs and good with cats. He could go to home with children likely over the age of 10. He is a bit pushy and with current size could bowl down a little one unintentional. As you can imagine Tuba is VERY food motivated so you can convince him to do most anything for a bit of food and would be a trainers dream. Tuba is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro chipped. If you think you would be a good match for Tuba and you are willing to get the satisfaction and joy that comes from helping a dog get into a healthy shape please contact us at aroo.info@gmail.com for more information. |

Maeve- Adopted May 2017

Name: Maeve
Age: 8
Cats: Yes (dog savy)
Children: 10+
Meet Maeve, a lil’ red sweetheart of a girl. She loves to get your attention for pets and cuddles. She came from an environment, where although well-loved she was lacking in socializing and exposure to day to day life, such as outings, cars and new people. Maeve is adjusting amazingly in her foster home and is getting over being timid but will need a home that can be patient and loving while she learns to be comfortable in her new surroundings. She is fostered with a stronger personality female dog and takes her lead on meeting new situations.
Maeve is absolutely an adorable, cuddly and loving girl. She solicits pets and cuddles whenever you are sitting still. She follows you around the house and likes to be near her people. Maeve will back away if you reach for her too quickly so it is important that her adopter is ready to work with her shyness and help her overcome it with slow and careful bonding. She is a very low maintenance dog, needing very little to be happy and comfortable while her foster mom is gone for the day. Give her a stuffed kong she will gladly take to her bed and keep herself busy.
Maeve walks nicely on leash, enjoys going for quiet strolls and checking out the neighbourhood. She is pretty low key and doesn`t need an extraordinary amount of exercise. Maeve would need lots of time and bonding before even considering to leave off leash, if ever. Mostly, because she can be easily startled and spooked not that she would leave her owners.
She is clean in the house with no accidents. She can be crated when owner is gone but does not need to be. She adores car rides and will happily go out with you to do your errands or go for a scenic drive. Maeve loves her food and treats. She gives the cutest little howls if foster mom is later serving up meals. She is learning to wait patiently until her bowl is delivered.
Maeve worries a little when her foster mom is in sight but out of reach, while she is with a stranger. It wouldn`t necessarily be called separation anxiety but she will bark if she can`t get where she wants to be. However she will patiently wait behind a baby-gate when her foster mom is training with the resident dog or arriving home from work.
Maeve has been spayed and vaccinated and is ready to find her forever home, are you ready for a sweet loving cuddle monster to join your family? Maeve is being fostered in the Ottawa area.

Liam- Adopted MAY 2017
Meet Liam, this tiny little boy is incredibly sweet and loving. His favorite spot to be will be in your lap. He came from an environment, where although well-loved he was lacking in socializing and exposure to day to day life, such as outings, cars and new people. Liam is adjusting amazingly in his foster home and is getting over being timid very quickly. He is fostered with a stronger personality female Aussie and takes her lead on meeting new situations.
Liam is a cuddle bug and meets new people very well. He really likes affection from anyone he can get it from. He has had a few accidents in the house but it is subsiding quickly, but will need continued work on. Liam is learning to walk on leash and wearing a collar, but again for everything being so new to him he is adjusting quickly. Potential adopters can expect a loving sweet dog that is a good boy, but needs time and guidance about learning the world around him. They need to have patience and want to invest time and energy into showing Liam all the good things out in the big world. Liam has shown mild resource guarding of his food dish (mostly against resident cat). We believe that this can easily be managed and worked on but it does require attention so that it does not get worse. We also, because of the mild guarding are recommend a home with no children or children over 10 years old.
Liam has lot’s to learn but we all can tell that he is an amazing guy. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love <3

Quinn- Adopted April 2017
Name: Quinn

Children: No
Description: Male, Black Tri, 22", 45lbs
Age: 1

Description: Male, Black Tri, 22", 45lbs

This extremely handsome Black-Tri boy is Quinn!
Quinn is a one (1) year old Male Australian Shepherd looking for his forever home. Please, read bio carefully as Quinn has the need for a home that is willing to continue to work on his socialization and meeting new people skills.
Quinn is a fun and exciting young guy. He loves to play outside. Romping through the yard and picking up toys (retrieving is not his ‘thing’, but he will run after balls all day!). He is quiet in nature, and for the most part of day to day life doesn’t bark. He is great in his crate and is calm and satisfied to be in it or lose in his room when foster parents are gone. He is still a young guy and any area left alone in needs to be puppy proofed. He has been known to shred a mat or two. He is gentle with his toys and given the choice will always greet you with a stuffy in his mouth.
Quinn is working hard on learning to meet new people. In his time in our care he can now be introduced and accept new people, but caution and time is to be taken for these introductions as new people are often greeted with barking. Many things are very new to Quinn, like car rides, going to vets, meeting new dogs, stairs. We try to make each new experience for Quinn positive be giving him the time to adapt and lots of treats and positive praise for overcoming his fears, often taking small steps at a time to adjust. He is not timid by nature and he shapes and learns very quickly. It is a matter of just giving him lots of socialization and positive experiences as possible.
Quinn loves to go for leash walks but pulls so an anti-pulling harness is recommended. He has been introduced to just a couple dogs, and some introductions have led to successful and happy play and some have been wary and unsure. He settles nicely in the house and is comfortable either being under your feet or relaxing on his own. He is a typical Aussie in that he does love butt rubs and cuddles and loves to get up close and in your face :). We would like to see Quinn go to an experienced home that has the time and the desire to devote to Quinn`s training and continued socialization. If Quinn sounds the right match for you please fill out an application at www.aroo.ca
AROO will be reviewing all applications and will make efforts to select the best possible match for Quinn.

Description: Male, Red Merle, 19", 45 lbs
Age: 3

Dogs: Yes
Children: +10 only
Description: Male, Red Merle, 19", 45 lbs
Introducing JUNO! This gorgeous young man is ready to find his forever home. Juno is a fun and spunky boy; he loves to play (Fetch! Being is favorite game of all). He is a Love muffin and his ideal spot will be right on your lap. Cuddling and snuggling are up there on his favorite past times. He is a shadow dog and his favorite place will always be where you are. His ideal home will have an owner home often with him and/or can take him with them when they leave for long periods of time.
Juno is an active boy that needs regular exercise and mental stimulation. He would be considered on the Medium-High level on energy scale. Any applicants will need to have a plan to give Juno an outlet for his energy. Juno loves walks and walks very nicely on when on leash. He loves to play with his foster siblings particularly partial to female resident Aussies but gets along with males as well.
Juno is known to bark, this is getting better with time. The more he settles in and is positively reinforced for good calm behavior the better it gets. He does bark and quiet down quickly at strangers entering the home. We can expect that in a new environment this wills something that will need continued work. AROO is typically an advocate for crating dogs, but in Juno’s case this cause’s unnecessary anxiety and we recommend he is not crated but left in a safe and secure area when owners are not home. Juno has also shown that he has some anxiety and fears around thunderstorms.
If you are looking for a fun active dog with a great and loving personality Juno is your man!

MARTY- ADOPTED MARCH 2017

Name: Marty
Age: 6-8
Cats: Unknown
Dogs: Yes
Children: +12 only
Description: 35lbs/19" Tall
Meet Marty!
Marty is a mix breed herding dog (at best guess BC/Sheltie mix). He is estimated between the ages of 6 and 8 and he is 35lbs. Marty is a happy, happy, happy dog!! He is incredibly loving and sweet and wants to be with his people all the time. He was found as a stray and released from the shelter to AROO. Marty has such a bright and happy personality and would make anyone very happy to be owned by him.
He is quick learner and is taking direction and learning well from his foster family. He knows all of his basic commands such as sits and downs, and is working on learning some more advanced cues now. AROO will strongly recommend Marty is enrolled into basic training classes upon adoption to continue on these efforts.
Marty gets along with other dogs, and is almost overbearing in his want to play with foster siblings …all of the time… Marty would do well with another dog in the home, but the dog would need to be tolerant of being pestered to play and adopter would need to be the kind of person that can stop the game when things get too crazy! Marty walks well on leash without much pulling. He is excited when a new dog approaches and will pull at these times.
Marty loves to play with toys, stuffies and balls but has a good off button and settles in the house. He is crate trained and rests easily in crate when foster owners are away. He will bark when excited or wants attention, but will quiet down quickly when asked. He does not appear to bark in his crate at all. Marty would do well in city or country setting but we would not recommend apartment living for him. Marty has had some occasions of anxiety in new situations or what he perceives as scary situations. Although doesn’t bark much at these times he paces and pants. Marty also has snapped a few times when he was handled just out of shelter or when a sore on his face was touched. We do not think his personality is an aggressive one; just caution needs to be taken in new situations.
It has been noticed by shelter staff and foster home that Marty occasionally has an abnormal gait. It appears almost as he trips or stumbles. We have had ours vets look at this and at this time it is not believed that it hinders his ability to have a happy, normal life. It could be from some previous trauma or even possible something from birth. It does not affect any of his day to day functions and/or ability to be a completely normal happy healthy dog.
We think Marty is a fabulous dog and are excited to help him find his forever home!! Marty is fully vaccinated, neutered and ready to go home.

Sasha-ADOPTED March 2017
Harley- Adopted January 2017

Harley
Australian Shepherd
3 Years
Male, Neutered
Cats: Unknown
Kids: No
Dogs: Yes
Are you looking for a four-legged guy that will love you, hang out with you and be your best buddy? One who seeks only to be loved in return? This is your beautiful guy.
He is a very lovable and loving dog full of puppy enthusiasm and spirit but mature enough to have learned basic manners and pacing. He is calm and respectful in the house, but can turn on his infectious energy when outside or when someone plays with him. He loves racing through the snow waiting for the ball to be thrown and displays great interpersonal skills and a fun personality when meeting and playing with other dogs. He has not shown any aggression or dominance in his relations with other dogs. Did you say time for a belly rub? Me, me, me. I'm in and I won't let you stop either!
He generally walks well on a leash with only limited pulling and heels on both sides quite well. He has an excellent recall and is clearly a “Velcro” Aussie, never wanting to be too far from his people. We have been told he would run with his owner in the past and is keen to do that again. He can clearly enjoy a lot of running and exercise but is adaptable to a more modest exercise regime as well. A good walk twice a day seems to be adequate to meet his needs.
Like many Aussies he can be nervous in new situations and when meeting new people and may bark to display his discomfort. But a treat and some gentle talking usually settles him and he accepts and then embraces his new friends. He seems quick to adapt to new circumstances and living arrangements. He is fine to be left alone in the house for several hours at a time, without crating.
He is truly a “love-bug” and is in his element when being petted, stroked, cuddled and hugged. If invited he will gladly join you in your chair and become a somewhat large lapdog.
He is best-suited to a house with outdoor space and, we have been told that while he is good with kids, he has tended to be somewhat overly protective around them. His forever home is perhaps one that he shares with adults. But there is no doubt that Harley will make a loving, loyal and goofy companion for many years to come.
Harley is being fostered in Ottawa area. If intersted in Harley please fill out an application form at www.aroo.ca

Dakota- Adopted January 2017

Dakota
Aussie/Border Collie
4 Years
Female, Spayed
Cats: Yes
Kids: No
Dogs: Depends on the dog
Meet the fabulous Dakota. This tiny firecracker is searching for the home that can love her forever. She is a very energetic little girl that needs lots of exercise and brain work. She loves to be with her person (people). She is a cuddler and is happy to be resting at feet or in your lap. She came to us because her previous home had small children that she did not enjoy living with. She thought that it was her job to heard and nip at the kids. For this reason we will be looking for a home with no children.
If you are looking for someone to do lots of activities with this is your girl. She loves to play and run and just be outside. She is a busy little thing and there is no reason to think she would not do anything with you. She is smart and willing. She can get bored if left outside on her own so you will need to have a plan to keep her active in all weather. She is great in her crate and can be left for the work day without issue. She gets along with some but not all dogs. It would depend on the dog and the introduction. Any new dog’s introduction would need to be slow over time or off leash with lots of space.
She pulls on leash without a harness, more work on this is needed and foster home will continue to work on this. She knows all of her basic commands, but strongly recommends that she is enrolled into training classes to help owner and dog to better communicate and bond together.
If you are looking for an active dog and have a home without children then this is your girl! Dakota is up to date on vaccinations and is being fostered in the Ottawa Area. If interested in Dakota please fill out an adoption application at www.aroo.ca

RILEY ~Adopted October 2016

This beautiful 8 year old female Australian Shepherd is searching for her forever home. We have never met such a sweet loving beautiful souled dog. Riley doesn’t really play with toys, but she does LOVE a good bone or stuffed kong. If you are looking for a dog that will follow you like your shadow, that is Riley. All she wants in life is to be with your people.
When Riley came into rescue a few medical issues were identified and addressed while in our care including the fact she had some cysts and mammary tumors that needed to be removed. These have now been removed along with being spayed to reduce the chances of further issues. Riley also ruptured once ACL and the second leg look as if there was a high level of strain on it and possible to rupture was heightened if intervention was not taken. Riley has now had a TTA (CCL Surgery) and has recovered BEAUTIFULLY so well even that the second leg is no longer an immediate concern for surgery.
Riley still likes slow short walks, but adores being outside and puttering around while foster people are at cottage or gardening or doing yard work. She also loves to cuddle up watching some night time TV.
If you have a place in your home and heart for Riley please consider filling out an adoption application at www.aroo.ca

PADDY~ Adopted August 2016!

Meet Paddy! This strikingly handsome fella is looking for his forever home. Paddy is a neutered 18 month old male dog. He is playful and loves his person(s). He is house broken and does not make messes in the house. Paddy does have guarding issues and is weary of strangers/new people he meets and will growl and/or bark. He is looking for an experienced home that is will to continue to counter condition these guarding behaviors. He is making progress with his foster home but will always be a work in progress.
Paddy will go to his crate for a kong or bone. He stays in in quiet overnight but he is reported as barking in it throughout the day. Again he has gotten better in his time in rescue has been made but is a work in progress at the time of this bio.
Paddy loves to chase balls with squeakers in them and will return them to your hand. He sometimes steals toys from the other dogs to get them to chase him. He plays tug but can be mouthy. Paddy walks well with a harness but still working on walking nicely on his collar.
Paddy is looking for and experienced home that will continue to work on his guarding issues that have NO children under the age of 14. He is not tested with cats but his personality suggests he would chase them. Paddy does get along with dogs but can sometimes guard the other dog from getting to his human. Paddy is up to date on vaccinations and is ready to start his life with someone that wants a Velcro loving sweet boy. Please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out an adoption application.

Wendell~ ADOPTED! July 2016

Wendell is a 19 Month old Red-Tri Male Australian Shepherd. This hansom boy is very loving and sweet boy is looking for a home that wants to work with him. He is a typical teenager looking to push the rules and boundaries, but with structure and direction he learns quickly and wants to please his people. Wendall coming into rescue is approx. 20-25lbs over weight but is already quickly dropping weight and building muscle with careful feeding plan and lot's of exercise.
He seems to have some pretty strong guarding instincts that we are working on finding root causes and working on a plan with our trainers to over come them. Wendall seems okay with meeting females but has a very strong reaction to meeting male humans. He does seem to have some territory protection issues, his foster home is working on this but it is something that will need constant monitoring and care. He is doing well in a country home setting. We do not think he will do well in residential living at this time. He is learning to walk on leash, he likely had very little leash walking previous to his stay with AROO.
He is great with the resident young male Border-X loves to run and play. They play very nicely and give lot's of breaks in the play then back to zooming. He is a little pushy with the resident female Aussies and at this time it would be a case by case basis if he would be a good match with another dog.
He wants to be with his people, loves to play in the yard and play with his toys in the house. He is learning about being separated from his people and not barking, we have seen huge progress and there are only short duration's of barking then he is quiet for the day. There is a dog savvy resident cat that is in the home, he shows interest in her but not to chase more curiosity. We will continue to update his bio as we get to know him better!
Wendell is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is being fostered just South of Ottawa.
We are accepting applications for Wendell but he is looking for a home that is does not have children of any age and the applicant is experienced dog owner wishing to invest the time into Wendall's long term rehabilitation of guarding. Please contact ottawa.aussies@gmail.com for more information.

Reese-ADOPTED! July 2016- RIP

Reese, only had a short time with her family but in that time she was loved to the Moon & Back. RIP beautiful girl.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Meet Reese! The best way to describe this girl is SWEET! She loves to be loved and loves loving.
The Black & White Female Border Collie is estimated to be between the ages of 5-6 years old. She was found as a stay and left in the shelter. AROO’s foster home adores this girlie. She is described as being low energy for a Border Collie. She does well on a couple nice easy walks a day and some play time. She is (we know shocking!) ball obsessed, she will be very happy if she could play ball every minute of the rest of her life. She gets along very nicely with strangers, sometimes giving a little bark to people in the distance to get their attention. She LOVES all people and will saddle up on your feet and wait for scratches and pets.
She would prefer a home without cats; she is a little intimidated by them and doesn’t particularly like them. She is great with kids but we recommend a home with children 10+, she gets so very excited when the leash comes out and it is time for a walk and gives a little hop. She gets a little herding walking on leash but her foster home is working hard on this, keeping her walking in a straight line and not getting under your feet. Finally she is good with other dogs but requires her space and does not like dogs in her face and will snap at them. Although she absolutely could go to a home with another dog the energy of the dog will matter to ensure a good fit.
Reese is up to date on her vaccinations and will be available to go home early July 2016. Reese is being fostered in the Ottawa Area. We are now accepting applications for Reese and will begin the screening process for best home for her in June.

MALONE~ADOPTED!~ June 2016

Meet Malone! This is one very happy, Black-Tri Mini-Aussie Boy! He is pretty easy going and friendly dog with both people and other dogs. He seems at easy meeting new people and new dogs, no issues or worries noted on this front. He has met and been good with children aged 12+, but has not had experience with younger children. He has had no experience with cats. Malone is crate trained and goes into the crate happily. He barks occasionally/is anxious while crated if he can hear noises and he is not able to see. He is not destructive with household items but does tear apart some types of dog toys. He has been known to paly keep away with items that's he has "stolen" (has taken a napkin on one occasion and a coaster on other) by growling, hiding and sometimes showing teeth but these items have been easily taken away from him (he's not as tough and he thinks he is!).
He loves to run and chase a ball or other thrown toys, we are working on his retrieving skills. He sticks close to the area we are in while off leash, his recall is good but not perfect, but he certainly doesn't show any sign of wanting to high tail it out of there! He pulls on leash, and one of his most needed training issues. It will take a little more time and care to correct. Malone has lots of energy and will happily run and play, but is also able to settle well in the house and is happy to be a couch potato in the evenings. He loves to cuddle, and often looks for affection and to be petted. He knows several commands such as sit, down, stay, shake a paw, back up, off. No signs of food aggression and routinely eats with other dogs. He watches the tv with us, and when he sees another animal on the screen he rushes to the tv and barks! HAHA! He shows a lot of interest in human food and will quietly beg, but has also put his paws up in the counter looking to steal what he can.
Malone is a very loving dog and his foster family loves having him! He is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. Malone is being fostered in the Kingston area.

EMBER- ADOPTED MAY 2016
Meet Ember! He is approximately 2 year old black and tan male Aussie mix who is full of bounce and joy! Being a big young boy, he's still a little rowdy, but settles nicely in the house, enjoying chewing on his toys while lying next to you. Ember's also quickly becoming a master at getting his food from his Wobbler. We're currently working on teaching him to keep all four paws on the ground, and to not be quite so mouthy.
He does well in his crate, but can be a little noisy when you first leave. With a bit more work, this should disappear. Ember's picked up the basic cues, and is smart enough to quickly learn many more. Attending a basic obedience class would be beneficial, and he'd probably really enjoy a sport like agility or scent tracking. His leash walking is coming along very well, but he needs to be reminded to keep calm when something fun looking comes along!
Ember would do best in a detached home with someone who has dog experience. Due to his size and not realizing just how big he is, a home with no cats, small dogs or younger kids would be best. He'll need structure in his new home, and a bit more training, but he's truly a wonderful goofy guy! We LOVE him!!
Ember is fully updated on his vaccinations and is neutered.
If you are interested in having Ember join your family please fill out an adoption application on our website www.aroo.ca

Holly loves to give kisses and to cuddle (climbing right up on your lap if you let her!). She is crate trained and chooses to spend time in it on her own. She is house broken and she does pull a little on leash but is learning quickly. For the most part she is quiet in the house and out in the yard, but does barks occasionally.
Although Holly’s history is unknown we know that she is not afraid of strangers either male or female, and has been very friendly/cuddly with all of the visitors that her foster home has had. She gets along well with resident dogs (Aussies) but has not yet met many other dogs since in foster care. She doesn't often engage in play with her foster siblings, but is friendly with them and seems to enjoy being with them as she follows them around and is interested in what they are up to.
Holly does not guard her food with people or with the dogs, you are able to take toys away from her, but more work and caution needs to be taken with things of higher value (ie. bones). She also does not like to be moved out her comfy spots and will give verbal noise to indicate she is unhappy.
When she first came into rescue, she would snap and/or growl if she was touched around her neck, or if you tried to wipe her feet. That behaviour stopped within a couple of days, once she trusted her foster parents. She is still uncomfortable with pressure being applied to her collar, although she doesn't snap she just freezes and looks nervous. Her foster her parents are working hard on this and seeing improvement but it is something that will take time and continuation of building trust. Due to these issues Holly needs to go to an experienced adoptive home, she needs love, understanding and trust in home that can continue the work her foster family has started. Her new family needs to be assertive and not be pushed around as she becomes more confident. Holly is best in a home with no young children.
If you are interested in adopting Holly please visit www.AROO.ca to fill out an adoption application or contact ottawa.aussies@gmail.com for more information.

ADOPTED MARCH 2016~ Dixie

Dixie is a happy, bouncy, energetic and intense mixed breed girl searching for her forever home. Our best
guess is she is a sheltie/shepherd mix around 1-2 years old. She is a very affectionate girl who loves to
follow you around and tempt you into a rousing game of tug or fetch. She has a great “leave it” cue so
can play tug and interrupt quickly to chase and fetch the toy. Dixie loves long walks to explore the forest
and play with any dog she meets. Once home though she can settle on the couch for some cuddle time.
She will do really well in a home where she will get plenty of daily exercise to prevent any boredom. She
is a friendly, girl who is excellent with people and good with strangers so "out and about" is her favourite thing. Dixie likes to use her mouth and voice to get attention so her adopter will have to continue to teach her the correct way to ask for things. She is very smart and food motivated so training is fun and easy. She is great off-leash and sticks close to her family on walks. Dixie walks fairly well on leash if a harness is used. She’s still learning not to pull and resist the pressure when on a collar. Dixie is fully house-trained, crate trained and is good in the car. She also knows the cues sit, down, off, gentle, leave it, come. She is unknown with cats and due to her herding nature may not be good with them.
Dixie is a fun-loving, happy girl and will make an amazing companion for the right family. She's funny and and smart and gorgeous - what more could you ask for? Since Dixie was found as a stray we don’t have a lot of history on her so a home with no kids under 12 is needed.
Dixie is being fostered in the Ottawa area. If you are interested in adopting Dixie please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out an adoption application or contact ottawa.aussies@gmail.com for more information.

Lola-ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2016

Meet the lovely Lola! She is a female herding mix dog that is to be estimated between he ages of 4-6 years old a wonderful girl who is eager to find her forever home. She will be fully vetted after her spay in January and ready for her new home.
When she first came to us she wouldn’t even make eye contact. Now she know she responds to her name most of the time and she knows her “SIT”, “LIE DOWN”, “STAY” and “OFF”. She can wait ever so patiently with great eye
contact at meal time until she is told to “take it”. She enjoys her training and of course the yummy
treats that go with it.
She is a calm girl, rarely barks and loves to cuddle with her big soft head in your lap to watch TV or have
a snooze. She lets you know when you have not given her quite enough petting by nudging you gently
but firmly til she gets more. She loves nothing more than to take her peanut butter filled GONG into her
crate for a good long chew. Walks are her very favorite part of the day and she is a great companion on
a walk. She is good with other dogs when at the park and can mingle with other dogs comfortably.
She has been trustworthy in the house out of her crate except for the occasional emptying of the
bathroom garbage can and once she did get into the treat cupboard and ate all the chews. She is a great passenger in the car
and sits quietly in the back seat sometimes with her head on the back of your seat rest. She is very polite when greeting guests at the door and enjoys the company of people.
Lola will make some lucky someone a wonderful pet. She would best be placed in a home with no small
children since we do not know of her history. We are also not sure about her interaction with cats. All
in all she is a lovely girl. Does she sound like a match for you? If are interested please considering filling out an adoption application and noting you are interested in Lola.

Kai-ADOPTED December 2015!

Kai is a 4 year old Black Tri female, spayed and up to date on her vetting. When Kia first arrived into rescue she was frightened of everything, including people, but with a lot of hard work from those of us that love her she has come leaps and bounds.
Congratulations to Kai and her new family for a match made in Heaven! Thank you very much to long term foster family for taking such good care of her!
Congratulations to Kai and her new family for a match made in Heaven! Thank you very much to long term foster family for taking such good care of her!
Beau~ADOPTED October 2015! Forever Loved RIP
Our very sweet boy Beau is an approx. 6 year old Male Black Tri Australian Shepherd. He came into rescue due to an unfortunate illness with his owner. Beau was rescued previously by this owner so his initial history is not known, but we know that he has spent the last few years in a loving home and has done well.
Beau is lovable and playful. If given the opprotunity he will climb right into your lap, but also will oush away nicely. He is good on walks, nice loose leash although sometimes forgets himself and gets excited to see other dogs when on leash. He is good offleash, although when adopted it takes time and trust before he should be off leash again. He loves pets and rubs, and has the trade marked Aussie"Wiggle Bum" when he is happy. He is fostered with another dog and does well with him, if bothered to much he lets him know. Beau is currently fostered with Cats although doesn't hurt them, he has been know to give them a chase. Beau is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. He is being fostered in the Ottawa area. Please contact Kim at Ottawa.aussies@gmail.com for more information |
Bradley-ADOPTED!

Bradley is a very handsome and sweet 8 year old Tri-colour Aussie. (and seriously check out those ears-Too Cute!) He is a wonderful boy who is both crate and house trained. He is left loose in the house half days while his foster mom is at work (He can be left the full day too). He doesn’t fuss when she leaves because he is too busy running to his mat to receive his daily stuffed Kong YUM!!
Bradley loves his evening run in the park with his foster sister and is very responsive off-leash. This is a good thing, since Bradley needs to lose about 20 lbs! Bradley is a medium energy dog; he loves to run and play with toys and dogs when outdoors but can settle nicely in the house. Bradley likes to watch for, and chase, squirrel intruders out of the yard, but is good with cats in the house. He is quiet in the car and loves his outings at a fenced in park.
Bradley walks well on a loose leash and enjoys being groomed. He’s a little nervous of people at first but loves to sit at your feet for petting once he knows you. He is very respectful of other dogs and has very nice interactions with them. The nice thing about mature dogs is that they already know their cues and settle nicely in the house. Bradley knows sit & down and waits politely for his food. He will also wait to be invited up on the bed for a snuggle.
Bradley is being fostered in the Ottawa area. If you are interested in adopting Bradley please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out an adoption application or email Kim for more information at ottawa.aussies@gmail.com
Bravo~ ADOPTED!! May 2015

Bravo, is a gorgeous 5 year old red merle male Aussie. He is fully vetted, up to date with his vaccinations and he is neutered. Bravo has come to rescue due to an illness with his owner. He was loved greatly and well cared for.
Bravo is very aloof and can be described as being shy at first meeting. If given space and time he warms up nicely, looking for a pet or a cuddle. He is a loving dog but does not like to be rushed to show affection. He loves toys (Balls, Frisbees…) but can be a little over excited, nipping out of excitement if not re-directed quickly.
He loves the car and settles down nicely when going for a long drive. He is described by foster family as a Velcro dog that can be found sleeping at your feet! He is relaxed and happy. He knows basic commands sit, down, come. He needs more work on not begging when humans are eating and he has not had much testing off leash so this is an unknown.
He is a perfect gentleman when walking on leash and meeting other dogs. He has been described as being bossy with other male dogs, but in foster care most of his exposure has been with females. He does have a herding drive and gets excited about children running around, so needs a home with no children present.
Ciaran ~ Adopted! March 2015 - Forever Loved RIP

Ciaran(Keer’an) is a very sweet 8 yo tri-colour aussie. He is a wonderful boy who is both crate and house trained. He is left loose in the house half days while his foster mom is at work (He can be left the full day too). He doesn’t fuss when she leaves because he’s settled in chewing on his stuffed Kong. When she returns he loves to greet her with his stuffed toy at the ready. Ciaran looks forward to his evening walk so much that he gives a split second sit on cue. Ciaran is a medium energy dog; he loves to run and play with dogs when outdoors but can settle nicely in the house. He also likes to lie in the snow in the back yard and watch for squirrels or other intruders. He is great in the car and loves his outings at a fenced in park. He loves to play and chase other dogs and will whine until he gets to interact. He loves to be brushed which is a good thing as Ciaran has a gorgeous thick coat.
Ciaran is learning to walk on a loose leash; he pulls a little but who can blame him after years of inactivity due to an illness in his previous family. This is also why Ciaran needs to lose a few pounds. Already, with walks and yard play, he is more active and outgoing and on his way to a good weight. He loves people and gladly will sit at your feet for petting. (After an initial bark and inspection at the door) Ciaran came knowing a few cues; sit & down and waits politely for his food.
Ciaran loves balls and stuffed toys and will chase after them if tossed in the house. He also loves his treats and will take them gently from your hand. He has twice growled at his foster brother over food but this was easily redirected.
Ciaran is being fostered in the Ottawa area. If you are interested in adopting Ciaran please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out an adoption application or email Kim for more information at Ottawa.aussies@gmail.com

Olive ~Adopted

Olives is a fully vetted 2 year old Black tri Aussie. She has come a long way since coming to her foster home. She's still shy in meeting new people and a bit nervous of a new environment. She loves attention and is always happy she runs and plays ball with foster dad brings the ball back most of the time but jumps up to drop it, her and chipper her foster brother play continuously and she always has to bring a toy to the back door when is let out.
Olive loves to cuddle on her terms doesn't like to be held, she thinks you want to play every time. Olive always has to kiss your nose before anywhere else on your face and she sometimes will suck on your ear for a second. She's a small Aussie and will fit into a small space on the couch if you don't move your legs..... Lol.... She will cuddle with you and she always seems to look like she's giving you a hug. She loves being outdoors running and playing and is evenly able to settle down for a quiet day.
She gets along great with her 4 legged foster brothers and while out walking if someone has a dog she wants to play with them but will run back if that person try to pet her.
Olive would be best with a single person or couple, no really small children. Also I think she would be best in the country or live on a very quiet street. She was barking at every noise she heard but is getting use to them but still barks at people walking by when she's at the front door looking out.
Lucy~ADOPTED!!

Lucy is a healthy energetic three year old black tri with beautiful blue eyes. She is crate-trained. Lucy is an avid ball chaser and will play for hours if given the chance, and she loves to run beside you if you are cycling.
She is great with other dogs and loves to play and wrestle with them. She lives in a home with 2 other Aussies and a cat and there are no issues. She knows some commands and listens very well when told to come or to leave something alone, although squirrels are sometimes too tempting! She is a complete little shadow, following you from room to room.
This sweet little girl does suffer from anxiety from being separated from her owner; however this has improved significantly while in foster care. She is also learning to greet people in a nice manner but has been known to be afraid and nervous around them initially. She will not take treats from strangers at this point and is still learning to walk nicely on a leash. She would likely do very well at agility or flyball, as she is so agile, quick, and eager to please.
Lucy is up to date on vetting, heartworm tested and spayed.

Rosie-adopted - Forever Loved RIP
CONGRATULATIONS MELISSA AND SCOTT on the adoption of Rosie!
Rosie is a small but very sweet 4 year old Blue Merle. Rosie is such a sweetheart, she gets along very well with all dogs. She is currently living with her foster brother Toby as well as her foster cat in Toronto. She was a little over weight when she first came to AROO but she has quickly gotten in to shape with lots of exercise and a good diet.
Rosie loves to play fetch with both sticks and balls and likes playing in the lake. She also gives a great high five. She has a few tricks but she is definitely smart enough to learn a lot more. Rosie does know her basic commands such as sit, lay down, heel etc..
Rosie does not like high pitched sounds and she will try to hide when she hears them but other than that she is a fine. Rosie is really a great foster girl and her foster family love her.
Rosie is active but not high strung. In the house she is very calm, she will chew on her squeaky toy or ball but never gets in to anything she shouldn't. You'll love Rosie as much as we do :)
For more information on Rosie please contact Jane at 3aussiedogs@gmail.com

Whiskey-adopted

With great happiness AROO would like to announce the adoption of Whiskey! Whiskey came to us in March 2013, shaved, broken and sickly. He was most likely a puppy mill survivor and had spent his first years without any human socialization resulting in great difficulties in trusting people. Now with a beautiful full coat, a tiny bit of confidence and a ton of joy he moves to the next stage of his life with Dave. I would like to thank the MANY people who helped with this little man to get him this far. ~Kim
Echo~ADOPTED

Echo is a very happy go lucky boy, loves everyone and everything! At best guess he is an Aussie/Rotti mix. He is approx 65lbs and approx. 3-4 years old, he is neutered and fully vetted. He LOVES people and other dogs, he has lived most of his life outdoors but is more then willing to curl up with his person and chill out in the house. He has a medium level of energy and will need regular exercise to keep him happy and content but is great for settling in the house.
Prim~ADOPTED

Prim is a gorgeous red-tri Aussie girl. She is 18months. She is a fabulous dog, loyal and loving. She is working with her foster home on learning proper dog to dog greeting on leash. She gets along great with her foster sister and brother and is the best snuggler going! She knows all her basic manners and some extra fun tricks. She loves to learn and in typical Aussie fashion LOVES her treats! Check back for more updates from Prim.
Gypsy~ADOPTED
Gypsy is one of those extremely rare fosters. She came to us already knowing her basic commands, house trained, crate trained (though she is rarely in one) and loves everyone (dogs, kids, adults). She is a 5 year old black tri-female. She loves her foster mom’s two boys and would prefer to sleep with them than anyone else. She might love them too much because they aren't allowed to go outside without her. If they do she barks. She would be happy as a single dog or in a multi dog household. She can live with cats as long as the cats can get away from her. She has chased resident cats and when she gets to them and they stop running, she gives up....job done I guess. She is curious about the chickens but hasn't tried to hurt them in any way.
She is extremely smart and picks up on tricks and commands super easily. Her desire to please is huge and any one that would like to train her to do tricks or even agility would be getting a super easy dog to train. She would be a great beginner’s dog. She came to us with an ACL tear she needs to maintain muscle in her hind end and keep her weight down. Although it is an old injury and when she came to us she wouldn't weight bear, she is now running and playing like a normal dog. You would be hard pressed to pick out which leg the injury was on. She loves to play ball and fetch a frisbee. She is even trying to jump for the frisbee, so it has to be kept low to prevent another injury. When we put low agility jumps in front of her she took to them like a pro. She would never be able to jump at any great height but she can easily do a 10" jump and loves it!!
Gypsy's only "bad habit" is barking. When she gets excited or if the kids are running without her, she barks. Typically she doesn't bark when left home alone but if she does bark it doesn't last long and doesn't happen at all if she is in a crate. It's the watching you leave that upsets her. She is also a bit of door dasher....however she "dashes" to the car, so we are working on door manners and she is getting the idea that she must wait before going out. She loves car rides and once she has her spot fluffed she just goes for the ride.
We have taken her to many different places and exposed her to many different things and she has not had an issue with anything. She went with foster mom to a pet first aid talk and visited with all the strangers without issue.
She doesn't get on the furniture or the bed, but does love it when we lift her up for cuddles, otherwise she is happy to rest her head on your knee for as long as you will pet her.
When in the house she relaxes and finds a spot not too far away to lie down and wait for the next big outing....even if it is just in the back yard. Gypsy is fully vetted, UTD on shots and spayed. Gypsy lives in the Ottawa area and if you are interested in adopting Gypsy please visit www.aroo.ca to fill out adoption application or email Kim for more information at Ottawa.aussies@gmail.com
